Sinclair Supply Ltd. (SSL) is an independent wholesale distributor of name brand residential, commercial, and industrial HVACR products. Industry professionals have come to rely on SSL and our heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, hydronics, solar equipment and controls.

In 1946, Sinclair Supply Ltd. was founded in Edmonton, Alberta, and we’ve been building a solid reputation in Western and Northern Canada since. Our business is rooted in quality products with consistent availability and competitive pricing, as well as in the thorough knowledge and extensive experience evident in our more than 60 years of quality customer service.

SSL carries over 400 top-quality HVACR product lines and over 30,000 stock items from the most recognized and reputable manufacturers in North America. Our knowledgeable sales staff—proud of such a diverse product line—matches the right product to your job application, and reliable daily distribution to and from our 14 locations ensures speedy and timely service for our many and varied contractors.

Custom sheet metal fabrication is provided from our two Edmonton shops and Surrey shop. Our exprienced tradespersons capably handle production demands.

History

Sinclair Supply Ltd. is a true success story with deep roots in Alberta’s boom economy. Founded as Sinclair Stove and Heating Ltd. in 1946 by Walter Sinclair—and in a simple two car garage in north Edmonton—the company was mandated to “buy, stock and sell a variety of heating products.” We’ve grown a lot since those days, but we still remember the steps we took to get us where we are today.

1940s

• Discovery of Leduc Oilfield #1 in 1948
• “Oil fired” construction boom began.

1950s and 1960s

• Upon Walter’s death, Walter’s son Bill, and employee Dan Sorochan headed up the company.
• Business was good, and it was time to expand. A new West Edmonton facility of 23,000 square feet included a sheet metal shop.
• Sinclair opened it’s Calgary location.

1970s

• Bill Sinclair retires, and Dan Sorochan acquires the company.
• Sinclair opened a South Edmonton branch, providing an essential pick-up service for points south.
• SSL obtained the Belvent B Vent Manufacturing franchise for Western Canada and opened a plant in northwest Edmonton.

1980s

• Sinclair acquired a small independent wholesale in Red Deer. A decade later, business necessitated a new large warehouse there.
• Sinclair moved into a larger head office and warehouse on five acres in West Edmonton.
• Sinclair branched into Regina and Saskatoon.

1990s

• The company moved into Lethbridge.
• We expanded into British Columbia with branches opening in Surrey and Victoria.
• Sinclair’s Red Deer office grew and moved into a larger space.
• Sinclair acquired Majestic Heating Products and amalgamated it into the south Edmonton branch with full sheet metal capabilities. Before long, another 50,000 square foot warehouse on another five acres was completed.

2000s

• Sinclair expanded the Surrey operation.
• 2005: A branch was opened in Fort McMurray where mega oil sands projects created a large housing and commercial / industrial construction boom.
• 2006: Sinclair Supply Ltd. celebrated 60 years in business. To commemorate this, the company contributed $100,000.00 seed money to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology to develop an apprenticeship centre and program in HVACR. Also established was an ongoing foundation offering scholarships to potential HVACR students.
• 2008 Sinclair aquired branches in Grande Prairie, Prince George, & Terrace.
• 2009 Sinclair aquired a branch in Nanaimo.

Sinclair was fortunate to found and build its business within the backdrop of Western Canada’s oil boom. We’ve kept pace! Our products have been continually in high demand throughout our 60 years of service. Our ultimate success, however, is best attributed to the valued customers we have served along the way.
